Back in the 90's the Hip Hop Shop was University of Hip Hop and place to shop for everything that was Hip Hop in Detroit. With visitors from all around the world we became a world renowned destination for those who wanted to test their rap battle skills, hang out or shop for the latest in fashion, music and magazines.

We provided video footage our famed rap battles to help recreate the battle scenes in the movie "8 Mile" starring Eminem. Aaliyah, Eminem, D-12, Slum Village and producer J Dilla, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose were just a few of our most famous regulars with Detroit roots, but others like Wu Tang Clan and most of the top hip hop acts that passed through Detroit had to stop by and sign our famous dressing room wall.
